FInal blogs post

  • I feel like I learned more about design in general and obviously, about digital design. Before I took this class I truly had it in my head that most digital design was done all on the computer and know I realize the benefits of using non digital materials. Research and types of research is also something I learned a lot more about in this class.
  • I am probably proudest about the knowledge I can take away from the Zine project. Not only do I think its my most successful piece in the class, but I incorporated the most different types of materials, sources, and ideas for this one. Maybe that goes hand in hand with why it was the most successful. I spent the most time planning and the most time executing/working on it. Picking a topic that you can have a lot of fun with, such as a fictional topic that you make feel as though it could be real; at least imaginatively, was a ton of fun. Even when it became stressful, which i think is the biggest key to success.
  • I know that I have improved on all facets of design from taking this course, I could even see things branching from it into my other classes during the semester. Because this was my first digital based art class I have obviously improved my Adobe suite skills as well, especially since I was taking Fundamentals of printing process at the same time. I also think I have improved a ton on my overall research and gathering materials skills.
  • The poster project and the zine project where two things I would like to most pursue on my own. Even-though my poster project wasn't near as good as I would of liked it to be, my idea in general I think could have been much better for the style of project. I took way to much class time to come up with an idea, which limited my overall project and Ideas. Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't and until I saw everyone's finished, it was hard to know exactly what to do and go for. With the zine, I did feel like it was by far the most work of all the projects, but I did get lucky with the birth of an early idea. This got me started faster and probably helped my overall success, even though, I still just got them done at the last minuet. I would pursue these two, because they where most interesting and fun to do. The ideas seem easy for me when it comes to the zine and I feel as though with the poster I could execute much better if I came up with a better idea earlier. I would also like to pursue more work with the Wacom tablets and I am even thinking about trying to get one for Christmas. Those seemed like a lot of fun and something I would definitely want to use in the work filed and in spare time.

I want it to look more aged than these two do, but the hand drawn is nice, while the shapes of the smaller ones look older without all the black/fill...

My ZIne Idea

I'm going to make a fictional zine about how to survive a dragon attack. will be based as though its a manual for people around like the 10th century. Most of my art work will be hand drawings I believe, to look a bit more like the period style.
